Ahren's Robot Bag

I've made a tutorial for this kind of bag before but it's pretty simple and there are lots of detailed and clear tutorials out there for messenger bags. I used an A4 sheet of paper for the pattern of this bag and made the bottom and sides 8cm deep - perfect size for a 9 year old.

What I used:

(less than) 1/2m Robot linen for the outer bag and strap
same amount of blue cotton for the lining
small amount striped brown linen for details and strap
1 A4 sized piece of natural linen for the back of the front pocket.

(- I also used Vilene interfacing on the inner pieces and quilt wadding on the back and bottom pieces to make it a little more sturdy)

The bag took about 3 hours to cut and sew up and another 3 days for me to get around to stitching on the little cross-stitched bots to the front. I didn't have much of the robot fabric to play with so I was nervous about cutting it up, but I love how it turned out.

This little pocket is my favourite thing about the whole bag.

Sugar Flower Florals

New quilted cushions :)

These were made using mostly Lecien Sugar Flower prints in reds and blues (that tiny floral print is my favourite fabric ever). The smaller cushion is 12"x12" and the one behind is 15"x15".

Aren't they gorgeous? Lecien Sugar Flower ~ Spring 2012 (source)

(It's not that wonky in real life. Promise.)

Hope you're having a lovely day

Woodland Pinspiration

Isn't it magical how anything with a red and white toadstool looks instantly adorable?
Now I know that foxes are not nice creatures but they're so cute that I can't think bad of them. I'm starting to think that maybe not everything Disney taught me is true.

I've just come home to find the middle toadstools fabric waiting for me with the post along with some other lovely cotton linens. Must resist cutting into it until I'm sure about what to do with it (and finish off some of the things that I started last week).

Beachy Pastels

spring pastels

Love these corals and blues, they make me think of beachy times in summer. Soo ready for the warmer weather and longer days! Here's my most recent cushion, inspired by this palette.

This cushion will be going in my etsy shop once I've finished setting it up but for now I'll just look at it and think happy thoughts.

Happy Chinese New Year

Or... any excuse for a party and delicious food. We made some paper lanterns and fans and cooked Sweet and Sour Chicken and Crispy Chilli Beef a la Pinterest...

Hello!

So this little blog has been sitting here with nothing on for a month now.

Time to write something.

I've been sewing and covering our various homes in crafty crap for a fair few years now and decided to have a go at selling some of the things that I make. I finished my first custom order for two patchwork cushions yesterday so today's the day to start sharing.

These little beauties were made with 2.5" squares of Valori Wells' 'Cocoon' fabric and Kona Solids and a few other bits that I had already. I only had time for a quick picture before I dropped them off to their new home but I was pretty happy with how they turned out :)
